Display : PAL& A not very stunning music disk&compiled by Ice Cube. After the simple&intro shows it's picture and plays a&sample you are presented with the&music selector. All this consists of&is a picture of Arnie and a list of&which function keys to press. Choose&one and the selected music loads and&plays while on the screen is shown a!spinning blue and checkered cube.& So this disk stands or falls on the&strength of it's music. The first/tune,
[3mRevolution
[23m by Psycho, is just a&lot of beats, very repetitive and best
forgotten./ Also by Psycho is
[3mRev-Up
[23m, a bizarre&thing containing within it the&beginning to the Sesame Street song&which is played with repeatedly to not&much good effect. My first impression&on hearing this was that it was&playing too slow for some reason.&Whether it's an unfinished piece or&just badly composed I'm not sure but either way it's a most odd tune.& The other four are all un-credited./
[3mCyberactive
[23m is an up-beat piece and&quite good. Some thought seems to have&gone into it but once again it gets/repetitive pretty quickly.
[3mPida
[23m is a&so-so tune, OK as background music but
that's about it./
[3mSnippers
[23m is by far the easiest&music to listen to here. A fast beat&and a good rhythm give it a chirpy&feel. Ends rather abruptly but&otherwise shines compared to the other
tunes on the disk./ The last one,
[3mStarphase
[23m, starts off&with a nice atmospheric feel but&that's all we get. You expect the main&part of the music to begin but it&never does, it's forever in intro
mode.& Why is so much Amiga music like&this? Could it be due to everyone&growing up these days listening to&songs instead of music and when they&come to write a tune without lyrics&they're a bit lost? It all seems so
unfinished.& This disk is another one without a&play-all-tracks option. As it's been&put together using widely available&utilities perhaps there's not&something available yet to do this&with Soundtracker modules. A job for
the coders out there.& So a not too good disk. The modules&are all available and ready for&loading into MED or Soundtracker or&whatever so someone could perhaps&improve on them. But if you're just&looking for music then there's much&more interesting disks available. Good
